Forever
When the morning sunrise shows itself
I watch as the city wakes and begins the day
As I walk along, I gaze,
I gaze at our beautiful sparkling sky
And I cringe as I notice the factories,
The factories billow smoke from its stacks
I walk along until I can see the city no longer
I look upon, and shed a tear
Our sparkling river is no longer
I run away before I can cry
But no matter how hard I try,
I cannot escape the destroying city.
My nose wrinkles, as I smell the pungent air
I run until I reach the forest
I watch the animals as the run away
And all I can think is, “you can’t blame them.”
As the city sleeps
My thoughts wander
As I wait for a better day
